Finding Speakers
Venue
For College Access Day, our team chose the Student Success Center (SSC) at JMU because it was an area that allowed students to experience and view main campus. SSC has large and interactive rooms that made the setting open and fun. The SSC staff was generous and helpful before and during our event, which we are thankful for.
Our team was tasked with the responsibility to provide guest speakers and panelists to aid the prospective college students with having tough conversation. The seminar covered topics such as: financial aid, the admissions process regarding status, mental health issues, peer and family support, and picking a major. We welcomed speakers who were current JMU students, professors and staff, and SVSLI volunteers.

Responsibilities

Catering
Breakfast was provided by Aramark and included coffee, orange juice, bagels, muffins, and donuts. For lunch we attended D-Hall, a dining hall on main campus. Meal vouchers were provided by JMU to every attendee that participated or assisted with the event.
